Coaching Accreditation

Softball Australia’s Coaching Courses are conducted as part of the National Coach Accreditation Scheme (NCAS). The courses have recently been updated from the previous numerical levels, the changes and equivalent courses are now outlined below.

The NCAS is a sequential coach education and development program offering courses at all levels and provides coaches with nationally recognised accreditation.

The levels are based on the Long Term Athlete Development philosophy that is player centred and coach led. The Softball Australia Coach Education and Development Framework outlines the levels of the coach education program:

The Foundation Skills courses are ideal for someone who wants to learn more about specific softball skills. The courses help to develop a greater understanding of core skills that coaches need to understand in order to teach players the basics at club or school level. It is broken up into four courses:

Softball Batter Up Coaching Induction (previously Softball Community Coach Program)
Softball Fundamental Skills (previously Level 1)
Softball Training and Practice (previously Level 2)
Softball Managing Games (previously Level 3)

To receive the complete Foundation Coaching accreditation, competency assessment must be undertaken after all four courses are complete.

Please note, coaches are not required to complete all four courses, and can maintain their current accreditation by following the re-accreditation process.

The Performance Coaching Levels are aimed at developing performance coaches (club, regional and state) for team coaches and battery specialists, coaches working with state, national and academy programs and national level coaches. The Performance Coach levels are:
