Vale Elaine Robinson

It is with great sadness that Softball Queensland acknowledges the recent passing of Elaine Robinson (nee Dempster).
Elaine began her involvement in softball in the very early years of softball in Queensland. Her first involvement was as a player and she went on to represent Queensland in the Senior Women’s Team for five years between 1954 and 1961. Her Queensland Player Number is 39. Elaine, a pitcher, captained the team in 1960 and 1961. Her first international competition was in 1960 when she played for Queensland against South Africa in Brisbane.
Elaine represented Australia in the 1962 Australian team tour of New Zealand, playing 3 games. Her Australian Player Number is 45.
Continuing her involvement, Elaine took on a variety of off-field roles. She was a Queensland Selector for the Open Women's Team in 1966/67, 1969/70 and Chairperson in 1975/76 and also for the Under 16 girls team in 1969/70, 1970/71, 1971/72 and 1972/73.
As an administrator, Elaine held the positions of Queensland Softball Assistant Treasurer in 1978/79 and was a member of the Queensland Scoring Committee in 1979/80. 
In recognition of her commitment and service to the sport, Elaine was awarded Life Membership of the Queensland Softball Association in 1972 and the Australian Sports Medial in 2000. She was inducted in the QSA Hall of Fame in 2001.
